Description

Here for auction is a white label numbered promo copy of Julian Cope’s 1991 double-LP Peggy Suicide, complete with printed notes for prospective reviewers in the music press. Cope’s record label Island indulged his desire to create a pre-album vibe, by pressing 50 individually-numbered 2 x 12” white labels. Most of these were snapped up by journalists and Island staff, but this number 2 remains in Cope’s collection until now. This vinyl version also contains the lost track ‘Uptight’, for which the CD could find no room. All four sides of the vinyl have been played through and sound superb. Sides 2, 3 and 4 were all found to be clean, while Side Two’s ‘East Easy Rider’ suffered one jump early on and ‘Promised Land’ exhibited some minor (and occasional) surface noise.
