You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever

The LOVIN’ SPOONFUL burst on the scene like America’s answer to The Beatles. John Sebastian’s tuneful, melodic hits brighten AM Radio and reminded everyone what was so vital about American music to begin with. The SPOONFUL’s name came from the great finger-picking Blues Man, Mississippi John Hurt.

In the Fall of 1965, the SPOONFULS had their first Top 10 Hit with DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC? It was the first of a string of Top 10 Hits over the next two years. The other hit from this debut LP was another John Sebastian penned song DID YOU EVER HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND?

The other originals by Sebastian were YOUNGER GIRL - ON THE ROAD AGAIN - and the instrumental, NIGHT OWL BLUES, which is the complete version never-before released. Other tracks included are BLUES IN THE BOTTLE - SPORTIN’ LIFE - MY GAL - YOU BABY - FISHIN’ BLUES - WILD ABOUT MY LOVIN’ - OTHER SIDE OF THIS LIFE - bonus tracks of YOUNGER GIRL (demo version) - the SPOONFUL’S cover of ALLEY OOP - BLUES IN THE BOTTLE (alternate vocal version) and WILD ABOUT MY LOVIN’ (alternate vocal version).  .

"The best, most consistent record by America's most underrated band." - Peter Buck, R.E.M. (1966) HUM OF glistens with chart-toppers ("Summer In The City," "Rain On The Roof," "Nashville Cats") from John Sebastian and co. The Spoonful's folk, blues, country and jug band roots meet an intensified focus on production value and experimentation to yield an enduring classic, now available on gatefold 180-gram vinyl from the original stereo masters and bolstered by four previously-unissued bonus tracks.

Also featuring the earlier Top 10 hit "You Didn't Have To Be So Nice" and signature songs "Jug Band Music" and "Didn't Want To Have To Do It," Daydream was The Spoonful's highest charting original album.  PLUS FOR THE COLLECTOR WHO WANTS IT ALL THE RARE CD - LOVIN SPOONFUL THE VERY BEST ALL TOP 10 HITS INCLUDED 24 TRACKS - OVER 60 MINUTES OF MUSIC AND COMES WITH ILLUSTRATED BOOKLET WITH SLEEVE ROLL BY SPENCER LEIGH BBC RADIO -  A wonderful testament to the Lovin' Spoonful's playful and decidedly romantic love tunes. As far as I know, this is the most complete representation of the Spoonful's greatest hits on a single disc, from "Do You Believe in Magic" to "She's a Lady." These are mostly love songs, melodic and memorable, mostly composed by John Sebastian. Sebastian's writing focus is of romantic and idealized notions of the girl next door. Sebastian's view is wistful and dreamy; his a heart not yet broken, but decidedly heartsick. Three of my favorites are "Six O'Clock," about meeting a girl at a coffee house, falling instantly in love and returning home half-heartsick, half over-caffeinated, and unable to sleep; "She is still a Mystery," captivated yet unsure of whom it is who's bewitched you; and "She's a lady," a reverent and poetic ode to the uptown girl who got away. "Do You You Believe in Magic" is among the magical tunes of the Summer of '65 that included "Mr. Tambourine Man" by the Byrds, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by the Stones, "My Girl" by the Temps, and "Like a Rolling Stone" by Dylan. "Summer in the City" was the Spoonful's biggest hit, enhanced by the studio magic of engineer Roy Halee. There are so many other great songs here: "Daydream," "Younger Girl," "Full Measure," the lovely instrumental "Lonely (Amy's Tune)" and many more. I can't think of a better or more enjoyable way to spend an hour than by listening to this CD
