Description
This is a great 1st press single owner copy of ‘Houses Of The Holy’ by Led Zeppelin – the initial 1973 UK release on the orange/white/green Atlantic label with no WEA logo, 'All Rights...' circular label text in the orange section only.
I’m quoting an enthusiast Discogs member below who somewhat perfectly hits this album on the head;
“...The mighty Zeppelin abandoned the blues/folk-tinged hard rock of Led Zeppelin III and IV and embarked in a new direction altogether on Houses of the Holy…Robert Plant's trademark voice was much more polished and John Bonham introduced syncopated jazz, reggae and R&B beats reinventing the Zeppelin sound altogether…Jimmy Page brought the heavy, parked the blues and John Paul Jones layered the majority of the tracks with piano and organ fills. From the opener, 'The Song Remains The Same' right through until the closer 'The Ocean', the album showcases a group in its prime, a tour de force that had no equal back in 1973. Houses of the Holy represents the best of Led Zeppelin and … 'No Quarter' to this very day is considered as the mighty Zeppelin at their very best.” (Rick_Mayer December 27, 2017)
This particular copy has mildly marked corners and biro in the top left, but an immaculate interior gatefold. The original inner is clean as are the labels, bar a further signature, while the disc has a lone mark on A1 that causes some light pops and otherwise is lovely and clean.
Given the overall condition I’m going with a grading of VG+, as the infidelity within the overall audio mix is for me acceptable using an averagely weighted system; however if you feel you’ll have issue with sound please consider before bidding – I won’t be accepting returns as I’ve play-tested and accurately described here. This is a great playable example of a very collectable UK 1st pressing, so grab an iconic album by the mighty ‘Zep on vinyl!

This is a collection being sold on behalf of a client, whom has been collecting some 50 years. It includes many 1stowner and 1st pressing items - the majority of which are EX condition records in EX/VG+ graded sleeves due to spine wear; having been stored on a shelf without plastic sleeving.
I operate the online-sales arm of a UK record shop and therefore aim to ensure accuracy in grading – I visually grade unless I can feel a mark which warrants further play-testing.
Many of the discs themselves only have very minor marks, but do have groove buildup due to not having been out in years - while I have hand-cleaned with Isopropyl solution and a microfibre (and then tested where needed), some have resulting minor background crackle and really would sound fantastic with a further session on a professional cleaning machine!
Starting-prices have been chosen competitively given Discogs and Popsike, and items will be safely packaged for postage; with discs firstly decanted into new separate inners, that inner and the sleeve then being placed in a new plastic outer sleeve and then shipped using professional grade record-mailers.
