Description
This classic Mad LP album is still in excellent condition after 60 plus years. The lyrics are witty and hilarious, and the rock and roll music is also well done – the songs are self described as Laughable, Danceable, Singable Newies – But Kookies. There are 12 songs: Let’s Do the Fink; She Let’s Me Watch Her Mom and Pop Fight (complete with the spelling error on Lets); Don’t Put Onions on your Hamburger; When the Braces on our Teeth Lock; Loving a Siamese Twin; I Accidentally Messed up His Hair; I’ll Never Make Fun of Her Mustache Again; It’s a Gas (starring Alfred E Neuman himself); Contact Lenses; Her Dad’s Got Money Cha-Cha-Cha; The Neighborhood Draft Board; The Biggest Mouth in Town; and a bonus Mad Extra surprise track. The vinyl record is in excellent condition, like it was new, and the sound is amazingly clear. The vinyl has been factory-etched where there is often a serial number and it looks like: “MAD 1 Side 1-3” and on the reverse “MAD # 1 side 2” (photo 12). The labels are clean and like new. The cardboard cover shows its age: it has a small amount of age-related yellowing at the edges and minor shelf wear at the corners. Unfortunately scotch tape was used to reinforce the top, bottom, and corners, and it has yellowed over these nearly 6 decade (photos 1,2,7,8,9). The top edge of the cover has a tiny split, seen in photo 11. Both sides of the inner paper sleeve/liner are in excellent condition except for minor age-related yellowing. The original thick protective plastic that was on the cardboard cover at the time of sale is a bit torn but is not really part of the album. I have tried to clearly and accurately describe the condition and show all blemishes in the photos which are considered part of the description.
