Description

Beautiful copy of Mercury Living Presence SR 90060 Colorback. Shostakovich Symphony No.5 Stanislaw Skrowaczewski conducts the Minneapolis Symphony. Stamper numbers are RFR1/1. Record is in NM- condition. Jacket is in NM condition. This info taken from other sources: & this is a TAS Recommended LP: Stanislaw Skrowaczewski was a very fine conductor for the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra at a time in history when Mercury Records was producing some of the finest and best recorded records ever done in the stereo era. Robert Fine was the engineer, and Wilma Cozart(Fine's wife) was the music director. Robert Eberenz was the Technical supervisor on this recording. Catalog # SR-90060 was probably the best of the whole great records recorded out of Minneapolis Symphony's recordings done in this early 1960 recording. The RAREST version of all was produced in very small numbers, by Mr Eberenz. The only way you can tell this version is by the very small inner run out groove. The RARE TAS version has a 1/8" runout on side 2. This version has much stronger dynamics and is stunning to hear. I have only seen a couple of these in my whole life of collecting. This is the version that Sid Marks pointed out is the one to own, when writing for TAS. This is the Rarest of all Mercury's. The matrix #'s RFR1/RFR1, (There was never a FR in this recording). This record comes from a single collection of classical records that I'll be putting for the next month. So keep looking there be some nice gems.
