Description
This is a very rare New Orthophonic Frequency Test Record produced in vinyl by RCA Victor in 1949. It is a 10", 33 1/3 speed LP. The purpose of the record as described on the back of the sleeve is "to assist in adjusting phonograph reproducers to the proper response for playing 'New Orthophonic' records. In order to avoid the necessity of taking meter readings over a wide range of voltages, applying correction factors, and plotting curves, this record has been recorded with the actual characteristics used in making RCA Victor records". The record is in excellent pre-owned condition with only a very few very minor surface scratches on Side 2. These "scratches" are not very visible and should not affect the performance of the record. The sleeve is in good condition for its' age with some wear on the back bottom right(see the last photo). The front and back have a little bit of dirt which can be expected for an album cover which is almost 70 years old. There is white cloth repair tape on three of the edges. On the front of the sleeve the original owner wrote 12-5-49 just under the RCA Victor logo. A great rare piece of technical recording history.
