Description

Stunning Original Nr Mint Un-Played 1973 U.S. Mercury Records 1st Pressing (A1//B1 Matrix) 'New York Dolls'; the Mega Rare Debut Album by The New York Dolls!!! Complete with 1st Press Thickly Carded U.S. Sleeve and Massively Rare Logo Inner Sleeve!!! You Will Not Find A Better Complete 1st Press Copy of This Rare Seminal Album!!!!

Here we have another essential 1st pressing from my mostly Nr Mint UK Psych/Prog/Rock collection. Let me make one thing clear right from the beginning, this record is the best example of a U.S. 1st Press of this rare album I have ever seen, and it took me a long time to find!!! You are bidding on one of the all time classic debut LP's - and almost impossible to find nowadays (especially in Nr Mint condition!!!); the absolutely classic 1973 UK Mercury 1st Pressing A//1 B//1 matrix on the 1st press 'Lipstick' Mercury Label of 'New York Dolls' by The New York Dolls!!! What's more, this is in impossible un-played Nr Mint condition AND it comes with it's original and very fragile thin paper sleeve with the New York Dolls Logo on it!!! This is also in Nr Mint condition!!! Let me also make it clear that this is not one of the much more common Dutch pressings that often turn up in the UK - it is the original 1973 U.S. 1st Press - the only way to own this record!!!

I cannot underestimate the influence of this band, which in spirit and attitude were the 1970's equivalent to bands such as The MC5 & The Stooges. If perhaps lacking the MC5's political ideologies and intelligence, they aptly made up for this with snarling attitude and mouthfulls of gob for anybody unlucky enough to be down the front at any of their more intimate shows. It is no coincidence that Sid and The Sex Pistols were to exhibit almost identical stage antics five or so years later, they were hugely influenced by the New York Dolls, as many have been since (Morrissey anyone?). The Underground 1970's belonged to Erickson and Johnny Thunders, who epitomised the attitude of rock and roll in a way not seen since Jagger & Richard in the 1960's. The band even ended it the way all truly great rock and roll bands should go, and imploded in a mess of over-inflated egos and drugs overdoses after leaving the world a truly awesome debut album (What are you still doing here Oasis?). Anyways this is that album; it sold in ridiculously small amounts upon its release in the U.S., resulting in a very low initial press run, and as such is massively rare today. The few remaining Nr Mint 1st presses of this LP dried up years ago both in the UK and the US; it is thus no coincidence that the UK has been flooded with inferior Dutch represses over the last 10-15 years. As demand increases for what was a the great overlooked and under-produced 1970's albums, the miniscule amount of 1st presses are going to become worth a huge amount of money over the coming years...

The vinyl itself is in absolutely UNPLAYED pristine MINT- condition! It has No scratches, NO scuffing, NO groove wear, NO warping or blemishes of any kind at all!!! It is straight MINT- as simple as that!!! It is the best example of this record I have ever seen! Its as simple as that!!! The easiest description I have ever had to write!!! The classic labels are also, Nr Mint, not a mark on them, not even the trace of a spindle line!!! The Thick & Chunky U.S. 1st Press sleeve has also stood the test of time superbly and has virtually NONE of the wear commonly associated with this sleeve!!! The slick is intact and the surface colour still retains all of its vibrancy and shows very NO fade - very rare for this un-laminated U.S. sleeve. There is some light seam wear to the bottom and slightly raised line along the top, but really nothing serious!!! It is super stiff and has very little of the ring wear which is so common for this sleeve!!! This awesome sleeve easily grades as Ex!!! Now we get the the massively rare original New York Dolls Logo inner sleeve, and what can I say - it is Nr Mint!!! The problem with these original inners was that they were pressed on very, very thin paper and the seams split almost instantly!!! The reason that this has remained intact for so long is that the original owner placed the record in a separate poly-lined sleeve upon purchasing the record. This is how the record will come shipped to you. IF YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS RECORD IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!!!! If you have, well here is your chance to get your mitts on a mint copy of the legendary 1st Press with its original inner sleeve - don't miss it!!!

I have tried to show you the record from all angles - there's nothing to hide!!! If you are not sure of anything just email me - I will be happy to help. Don't underestimate the rarity of this LP - finding a true complete U.S. 1st pressing of this classic LP is almost impossible today!!! Don't let it get away because once it's gone it's gone!!! Good Luck!!!

I hope I have conveyed how special this copy of 'New York Dolls' really is, no amount of spiel or images will do it justice. It really is beautiful, wherever this record ends up, the winner can rest assured that they have just won one of the very best remaining copies of this record in existence in the UK.

All my records have No reserve, a Low Start and No Surcharges!

A little note about insurance - Please read carefully... If the value of your record(s) is over £30, your invoice will include an insured option. Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up  - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. You either add the required insurance or you don't. If you do add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will get a refund. Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...

Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
