For auction is a rare 1972 U.K. reissue of Nick Drake’s Five Leaves Left with Island Pink Rim labels ILPS 9105
This is the A3U/B3U first reissue, as it comes with the original First Issue Ernest J Day sleeve, which the later repress didn’t.
The First Issue sleeve has quite a lot of edgewear - particularly the top edge, as shown in the photo. There is a split half way along the top edge.
However, the rest of the sleeve is intact with no writing or tears. The spine is fully readable. There is age related fading as this is an unlaminated sleeve. Graded as VG.
the original blue Island inner sleeve is in VG+ condition.
Visually the record is EX-, as there are only slight marks from sleeve removal. No scratches. The labels are clean apart from very minor mottling, as seen in photos.
Play testing leads to a sonic grading of EX+. I could hear no ticks, clicks skips or jumps. I could not even hear any crackles.
Basically this is a superb sounding early copy of a very rare and important record. The sleeve is of the rarer First Issue style.
