"Automating Volume Two" United Diaries Records RARE UK Import LP! No Reserve!
Nurse With Wound - "Automating Volume Two" United Diaries Records (UK) UD030 from 1988. Super Hard To Find and long Out Of Print album from Nurse With Wound featuring Steven Stapleton and an ever-changing list of collaborators including Current 93's David Tibet. Like its predecessor, Automating, Vol. 2 gathers up Nurse With Wound tracks from several hard-to-find various-artist compilations, mostly from the mid- to late '80s. One might not think a collection of diverse tracks would be as cohesive as a regular NWW album, but all the material is strong, and with some added studio trickery and even melding two tracks together in the case of "Elderly Man River" and "Dance of Fools," volume two comes together extremely well. "The Strange Play of the Mouth" starts off with a loop of a woman singing, and then after half a minute the electronics kick in to create a surreal sonic collage, even throwing in snatches of show tunes like "My Favorite Things." The NWW take on "Old Man River" goes in a similar direction, as the piece rides on a clunky rhythm while lots of odd sounds rise and fall, ending with the loopy poetry, spoken by Diane Rogerson, on "Dance of Fools." Whereas the first side has similarities to the Sylvia and Babs record, the first track on side two moves in a direction similar to Spiral Insana, with the stabs of organ tones over a constantly changing soundscape, though with a more glacial feel. This is followed by the more spoken-word-oriented "Human Human Human" offering a futuristic vision where pets become food for people, and finally "Lea Tantaaria," based on a painting by insane-asylum inmate Adolf Wolfli.
In super nice condition! The cover shows maybe just the slightest basic ring and edge storage wear but is still in close to New condition and easily Near Mint! Please note - any marks, streaks or blotches that you may see which are not mentioned in the write up (like those in the upper right corner of the cover) are scanner artifacts, not defects in the record cover... I will list any actual defects! The Vinyl is likewise great! It's possible that you might find a slight sleeve scuff or two if you really look closely (and have better eyes than me) but in pretty much New condition (quite likely unplayed... no spindle marks) and easily Near Mint! The Labels are also Near Mint.

Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over eleven years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
