This item is one of a batch of SEALED ORIGINAL LPs from 1960's and 1970's from a warehouse find by one of our distributors of! These are original sealed copies of some juicy semi-obscurities!! Since we cannot see through the shrink-wrap to ensure perfection inside the record jackets after (in some cases) 55 years, we cannot take any opened copies back in return—sealed copies are fine—but once they’re opened, that’s it. The risk is minor, we believe, as these were all stored in an operational warehouse until we purchased them. They appear to be in excellent condition. Very few copies remaining on these gems, please act fast!

MUNGO JERRY "Mungo Jerry" (JXS 7000): Mungo Jerry came to prominence in 1970 after their performance at the Hollywood Festival at Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. The band grabbed all the headlines in the UK music press as they stole the limelight from the festival headliners, Black Sabbath, Traffic, Ginger Baker's Airforce, Grateful Dead (their first performance in the UK), and Jose Feliciano.

The first Mungo Jerry single, 'In The Summertime,' entered the UK charts at No. 13 and the following week went straight to No. 1. Eventually, their good-time blues and jug band repertoire "done in the honky-tonk format of the Roaring 20's" according to Billboard, would eventually become bothersome to the band, but at the time it was fresh for all concerned.

Robert Christgau opined in the Village Voice, "best novelty group since the Coasters, with an album almost as good as the single. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. No kiddin'." And lo, suddenly Mungo Jerry was Melody Maker 'best new band' of 1970. We ask that payment is made within 3 days. We prefer payment by PayPal, and will only ship the item your PayPal confirmed address when PayPal is used. Shipping:
