I am music fan who has collected vinyl records over many years and over the coming days/weeks I will be offering rare, and much sought after vinyl records including Prog Rock, Blues, Folk, etc from collectible labels such as Pink Island, Blue Horizon, Deram/Decca, Atlantic plum, Vertigo swirl, Chess etc etc..

This LP is in truly EXCELLENT CONDITION++ and is genuinely a reluctant sale.

This is a rare UK Blue Horizon LP by the incomparable Otis Spann accompanied by Fleetwood Mac. This LP is a beautiful example of this highly sought after LP. There is absolutely no groove-wear, no pops, no clicks, no ‘breakfast frying’, no sticks or jumps. Held at an angle towards light it would seem there is just the slightest of one/two paper scuffs which does not cause any audio distortion whatsoever.….It is in outstanding condition!!

Discerning and serious blues collectors, and particularly Otis Spann (and early Peter Green Mac) devotee’s, know that to have this LP on this original UK Blue Horizon label in their collection is a ‘must’, and an indispensable addition to their catalogue.

Record Grading

Before I offer for sale I play grade to check my LP’s and I have just played both sides on an upmarket deck.

There is truly only one way to describe the vinyl of this LP – a superb Excellent+! – The winning bidder will not only be thrilled, but also as with all UK Blue Horizon pressings amazed at the sound quality of the vinyl! Remember and please bear in mind that this original pressing is 41yrs old!

The vinyl is superb And I doubt if you will ever again find this vinyl in as stunning and beautiful condition!! ‘Run-in’s’ and run-out’s on both sides are brilliant. You would be very, very fortunate to find another with sound quality like this!!

As always, I am being genuine and highly critical, but honest in my evaluation of the LP; You’d be thinking I’m doing myself an injustice with my description but I treat others the way I wish to be treated myself so I am describing it to the best of my ability. (Also, I have not attempted to clean the record in case of damage to the LP and because it’s in such outstanding condition it doesn’t require any object or cleaning agent applied, in fact the only implement this LP requires is a stylus!)

LP Cover

Laminate front, single sleeve – absolutely excellent condition!

The front and rear of the sleeve is clean and bright with no unwanted ink or any other unsightly blemishes. The print on the spine is also excellent. The spine is also ‘square’. No edges wear whatsoever (see images).

Labels

Absolutely immaculate! Held at an angle towards light there would be the odd spindle marks but this does not affect the appearance of each of the labels in an y way. And 41yrs old to boot!… Both labels truly stunning! – No unwanted ink/writing or unsightly blemishes (see images)

Inner Sleeve

The LP is housed in its original plain white inner sleeve.

Album review

In January of 1969, British power blues quintet Fleetwood Mac came to Chess Records studios to jam with the likes of Willie Dixon, S.P. Leary, Honeyboy Edwards, and long time Muddy Waters' pianist Otis Spann. The sessions were so rich and fruitful that three-fifths of the Mac (specifically bassist John McVie and guitarists Peter Green and Danny Kirwan) impressed Spann enough to cut a record with them at the same sessions. While the classic "Country Girl" and a seven-minute "Someday Soon Baby" (which features a lengthy intro from Green on which Spann can be heard barely off mic telling the rest of the band to "let him play on") ended up on the Mac's Blues Jam at Chess double set: remaining cuts included "Dig You" and "Walkin'" and are a near perfect match of Spann's exciting, emotive singing and the Mac's youthful muscle. The Biggest Thing Since Colossus was released on Mac manager/producer/strongman Mike Vernon's London-based Blue Horizon label – class!
