ALBUM INFO & RARITY:

Where do I begin, firstly one of the greatest psychedelic albums of the 60's. It was also the last Pink Floyd album to be released in MONO! Pressed in very limited numbers, the Mono version is a totally different mix to the Stereo version, which to this day has NO CD RELEASE! Rarer than hens teeth, this version is so scarce to find in any condition. A really nice copy, this album has been played but looked after, most were either played to death or played on players with damaged or worse, gramophone needles of the kind that distorted and damaged the playing surface for all time. Syd Barrett's contribution was only 3 tracks, unlike the first album, 'Piper at the gates of Dawn' where he had written all the tracks, and their first 3 singles. Dave Gilmore had already joined the band, at the end of 67' and had integrated well. Syd's erratic behavior lead to his departure, while the album was being produced, hence his contribution. The album was released in June of 1968. It sold reasonably well at first but only the hardcore fans purchased the album, in the light of Sgt Pepper the new sound was "STEREOPHONIC", the record company's were fazing out Mono recordings, in favor of Stereo. Know-one knows how many Mono albums were pressed but it was only a handful. Hence the high record collector guide price.

 VINYL:

 Ex: I have played and listen to the album. From the first track through to the last, there are no major faults with no jumps, or sound distortion.   

 SLEEVE:

 EX: Original GARROD & LOFTHOUSE Flipback sleeve which is in remarkable condition for its age. It has File under POPULAR: Pop Groups, on the TOP LEFT REAR. Please have a look at the photo's. I will give a full close description listing all the minor faults. The laminate to the front - as well as the flip backs - and a matt finish to the back. The front has no laminate lift or rippling with a few laminate creases, which are located, down the spine, to the top, bottom and right edges. There is a crease near the centre, and a deeper crease to the top right hand corner. When the sleeve is held at an angle under normal light, faint ring wear can be seen. The back has some wear due to age, along with a very faint patch of ring wear visible. The flip backs have a few laminate creases, including some wear. There are also a few creases to the left edge, as well as deeper creases to the top right and left hand corners. The edges and corners have some wear, including crease marks. To the middle of the top edge, there is a very small split to the top layer of the sleeve ie. the laminate, revealing the white card beneath. I must stress that this split really is very small. The sleeve has no tears or splits to the edges and spine, and there is no writing.

 INNER SLEEVE:

EX: Original EMI inner sleeve. There is some creasing to the flip backs,  but no damage such as tears, splits and writing. Both sides of the sleeve have some minor browning, but this is due to age.

 LABELS:

 Clean, no damage or writing. There are a few spindle marks on each side.

 AUDIO GRADING:

 I play all LP's on my Pioneer PL 550-X. Firstly considering the albums age I totally enjoyed the whole Lp It still plays wonderfully without any major faults NO JUMPS or SCRATCH CLICKS, or DISTORTION! Side one track 1.  Has some light background noise, There are also a few pops once the vocals start, but these soon trail off. There is a pop inbetween tracks 1 and 2 along with some crackle, which is slightly less audible once the music begins. A few pops are audible about halfway through track 2. There is light surface noise inbetween tracks 2 and 3, which is audible from time to time on side 1. Side 2  The whole side plays through without any jumps or clicks, I will give an honest appraisal the side begins with some background noise and a few pops. Light surface noise/crackle can be heard throughout the rest of side 2, along with the odd pop. Overall the audio is very good, with no distortion or clicks. Although crackle and pops an be heard, these aren't so loud as to overbear the music and in no way spoil a truly fantastic listen.

LP's will be sent in wrap-round mailers, with stiffeners for extra protection. The LP will be in an inner sleeve and placed on top of the album sleeve, and place in a clear sleeve

UK AND CHANNEL ISLANDS: Royal Mail 2nd Class will be £2.50. If the value exceeds £20 it will be sent signed for at £3.85
