Peter Gabriel’s self-titled debut album, affectionately known as CAR, due to the iconic Hipgnosis designed cover, will be re-issued on vinyl for the first time since 2002.
The album has been Half-Speed Remastered and cut to lacquers at 45RPM, across 2 x heavyweight LPs, to deliver maximum dynamic range in the sound. Vinyl cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering, mastered by Tony Cousins at Metropolis and overseen by Peter’s main sound engineer Richard Chappell. These albums really have never sounded so good! They also look amazing with the gatefold sleeves utilising imagery from the original LP inner bags and all images are newly re-scanned.
The album comes with a download card with a choice of digital download (Hi-Res 24/96k or 16/44.1k), and is both Numbered and a Limited Edition - 10,000 for the World.
Having left Genesis in the summer of 1976, Peter’s first solo album arrived in February 1977. He was 26. With legendary producer Bob Ezrin taking charge, the intention was to make a more direct and tougher record: something different from what had gone before. The record also provided one of Peter’s most recognisable songs in the shape of Solsbury Hill.

Recorded in the Netherlands and New York City, Peter’s second solo album saw Robert Fripp promoted to the role of producer. The album was released in June 1978. Fripp continued to feed Peter’s growing fascination with electronics and the resulting album is denser and more experimental than the debut.

Produced by Steve Lillywhite this third album saw Peter change his writing style; now the rhythm came before the melody and the songs were built up on top of the rhythmic sequences. The album delivered at top 5 UK single in Games Without Frontiers and Peter’s first overtly political song in the shape of totemic closer Biko. It also features notable contributions from Kate Bush, Paul Weller, Phil Collins and David Rhodes.

Co-produced by Peter and David Lord this is the first album where Peter really immersed himself in the music of distant lands and cultures. It was also his first fully digital recording. These two elements created a deeply effective soldering-together of futurism and generations-old tradition.

At Netdiscs we ensure you get the postage and packing service you require - we can send by 1st, 2nd or Recorded delivery within the UK and Air or Airsure to any overseas destination.  We no longer use surface mail due to the length of delivery time and any overseas items over £20 will now have to be sent by Airsure.

We hate being overcharged for postage, it’s money for nothing. So we aim to keep our postage costs fair and transparent. Obviously each item is different, but we’ve done a fair bit of work to establish the correct postage price before posting.  If you feel hard done by, please get in contact.

PACKAGING

We’re record lovers too and hate receiving items marked as ‘Mint’ and turns out to be scuffed or ripped. This can be avoided!

We use top quality packaging materials - so all our items arrive with you, the buyer, in top notch condition.

Please note: all records are removed from their sealed packaging UNLESS REQUESTED OTHERWISE. Once removed from their packaging, they are kept in a 250g polysleeve which ensures protection. The record(s) and its sleeves are then placed between 2 stiffeners. This ensures that everything arrives exactly as you’d want it to.

Remember - we all need to recycle where possible, so with larger orders and larger items, we re-use the packing boxes and protective wrapping received from our suppliers.

Grading based on Record Collector Guidelines:

Mint   The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent   The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good   The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good   The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair   The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor   The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad   The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
