729. ANTIQUE 12-INCH 78 RPM RECORD ~ AN ORIGINAL SOUND DISC TO ACCOMPANY "PHOTO-DRAMA OF CREATION" (COLUMBIA 16580/16582, 1914)

TITLE(S): "The Photo-Drama of Creation Introduction and Conclusion Part 1" (mx. 16580-2) / "Conclusion Part 2, Conclusion Part 3" (mx. 16582-1)
DESCRIPTION: Recorded speech to accompany silent film and/or slide presentation
GRADE: Excellent Minus (E-)
CONDITION NOTES: Record labels (which are 2-5/8 inches in diameter) are fairly crisp and bright with light scuffs, light fading, slight discoloration on some lettering, light wear on raised matrix numbers, some spindle hole wear, and small visible scratches around the spindle holes.
Record surfaces are glossy with a few light visible scuffs, scratches, somewhat cloudy area first half of "Part 1 Intro" side (does not affect play), and a barely visible 1/2" lamination crack on edge of "Part 1 intro" side (does not sound and is not through to other side).
This item plays with wonderful fidelity, slight echo and/or reverb, good volume, has a rough start for the first couple of grooves of "Part 1 Intro" side (very quickly quiets), and there is very light surface noise on both sides of this item. For best results, this disc should be played at 80 RPM.
**SELLER'S NOTES: This item is an original soundtrack disc to accompany the 1914 silent movie/slide show presentation "Photo-Drama of Creation". This presentation was produced by Pastor Charles Taze Russell and the International Bible Students Association. Some 24 double-sided discs were made to be played throughout the presentation; popular elocutionist Harry Humphrey recorded the narration on a majority of these. Only the disc offered here (the first of 24) and one other contained the recorded voice of Brother Russell.
***No worries about packing…I pack for shipment like the pros - record secured between cardboard squares in large box with plenty of padding.

GRADING IS CONSERVATIVE USING THE VJM RECORD GRADING SYSTEM:
N (78). As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).
N- (78). Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.
E+ (78). Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
E (78). Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
E- (78). Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, a few light scratches and scuffs.
V+ (78). An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.
V (78). Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
V- (78). Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy graying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.
G+ (78). Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
G (78). Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
