Description

A 1st press of the WALL on the UK Harvest label in 1979. Matrix A2/B2/A1/B2 - I believe this is the second earliest iteration you can find and does not surface often. 'TML-M/X'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Please note the original 1st issue cover is easily identified by the absence of the band members names in the brick directly above the 'baby in the cell'. All later reissues mention the band members names in purple in this brick. Also included are the original thick-card round cornered inner sleeves with notches at the top.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely superb condition and has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, but heavy or likely to cause significant issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. If you are someone who is fussy about audio do seriously consider this LP. THE WALL is full of what is often very low-key audio and many copies suffer some sort of interference which can be off-putting with this title. We only detected a few light crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side [e.g. Don't Leave Me Now]. And then just a few very light low-level ticks during the machine noises in the intro to 'Young lust'. By the time the music/vocal starts it's completely inaudible. Overall an impressive rendition with lovely clean audio throughout and right up there with some of the best copies I've witnessed.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and front and back are totally free from the ageing process. Please note there's a tiny knock to the opening toward the bottom - quite minor. The interior looks great - with no issues at all. Edge wear is very light and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact too. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A beautiful example by any measure.
