Description
Although I cannot claim to be an expert in the field, I believe this is a first pressing of The Beatles first LP, "Please Please Me", on the Parlophone Black and Gold Label with publishing credits to Dick James Mus. Co. on six of the tracks.
This record has been in my own collection since the early 1970s when I purchased it second hand and has been played only a few times by me on a good quality hi-fi system.
The record itself is in very good condition and plays very well without any skips or jumps. There are some light surface marks/ scratches on the vinyl and during the intervals between tracks one can hear a little hiss and crackle but surprisingly little given the age of the record. I have played the record before starting this listing and it still sounds clean, fresh and vibrant. There is no discernible warping to the record.
The cover is in fair to good condition. There is old sellotape around the edges which was put there to reinforce the cover. I may even have done this myself but I cannot recall! The inner sleeve has a polythene inner lining. I do not know if this was the original cover when the record was sold as new but it is the one which was with the record when I bought it circa 1972.
Stamped between the run-off grooves are XEX 421-1N (on side one) and XEX 422-1N on side two. In addition on side one there is the single letter "L" ( I think it's an L and not the figure 7) and on side two the letters "GG". I am aware that these letters mean something to the experts!
I'll be sorry to see this record go after all this time but needs must. I hope it finds a good home.
