16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER ACETATE 33 1/3 RPM DISC. THIS DISC WAS RECORDED BY THE NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY NBC FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
Side One: 3 takes of "Sleepy Lagoon" by Paul Barron & His Orchestra from March 7, 1945, most likely for V-Disc. Takes 1 and 3 are complete. Take 2 ends after 1 minute and 15 seconds with someone shouting "Cut NBC, We Had The Wrong Mike Paul". There is some talking and orchestra noises in between takes 1 & 2. No personnel is given, but assuming it's the same Paul Barron Orchestra from some of the Mildred Bailey shows
Side Two: Features part two of The Mildred Bailey Show of January 26, 1945. Songs include "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child" vocal Mildred Bailey, "At Home With A Gnome", "Stompin' At The Savoy" featuring guest Cozy Cole on drums (great drumming on this one!), "Evelina" vocal Mildred Bailey. Music is by Paul Barron & His Orchestra - the personnel isn't announced, however it usually includes Teddy Wilson, Roy Eldridge, Specs Powell, Red Norvo, etc. This is the last 14 minutes of a 30 minute program and includes a partial closing. All of the songs listed above are complete
Disc is in Excellent or better Condition with Excellent or better sound, Beautiful Disc! There is some wear on the sleeve which is visible in the photos
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
