RCA LSC 2281, BRAHMS Violin Concerto, Szeryng (violin) / Monteux, London Symphony Orchestra (1959) 3s/1s, Indianapolis pressing. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old shaded dog pressing. This copy is not perfect, but it is clean and glossy and plays almost perfectly, with only two or three very light tics. It is one of the hard-to-find and most beautiful of the RCA living stereo violin recordings. The violin sound is very realistic and life like, recorded in a wide and deep sound stage. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and quiet with NO pops, clicks, or skips. There are some light scuff marks on each side that make NO SOUND that I can detect, except for the two or three lights tics already mentioned. The vinyl grading is EX/EX and the labels are very clean with no spindle marks (see photos). The jacket has no seam splits, but some very small corner dings and very light staining on the back side (see photos) – grading is EX. In summary, this is a very nice copy of this wonderful golden age violin recording. Feel free to return for full refund if not completely satisfied. Shipping is free anywhere in the continental US.
