Selections from "Music in the Air", 1932 Broadway show by Jerome Kern (music) & Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics).
Nathaniel "Nat" Shilkret & his Orchestra, with soloists Marjorie Horton, Robert Simmons, Conrad Thibault & Jack Parker (RCA Victor recording artists, none of whom appeared in the original production).  The reverse side contains photos of stars of the original Broadway production, including Reinald Werrenrath, Natalie Hall, Tullio Carminati, Katherine Carrington, Walter Slezak (son of opera tenor Leo & father of TV actress Erika) & Al Shean (of Gallagher & Shean, & uncle of the Marx Brothers), along with composer Kern & conductor Shilkret. 
Songs include "There's a Hill Beyond a Hill", "I've Told Every Little Star", "And Love Was Born", "When Spring is in the Air", "We Belong Together", "In Egern on the Tegern Sea", "One More Dance" & "The Song is You" (the big hit from the show).
12" RCA Victor Picture Disc 39001, recorded & released in late 1932.  Good, clean condition, has been tested on modern equipment with appropriate stylus & plays well through both sides, no skips, several brief ticks & surface noise as typical of these early picture discs.  Photos on both sides are clear and robust (see photos).

Sherman:      "Another victim of the depression was a series of picture records issues by RCA Victor from late 1932 through 1934.  These records featured a photograph or drawing pertaining to the artist or subject matter underneath a transparent record surface pressed over a rigid black core.  A remarkable diversity of talent appeared on these attractive discs, but with conventional record sales almost at a standstill, the picture records didn't stand a chance.  While the photographs used on the records usually appeared in black & white, color was often used in the drawings or as a background" (as here). "The picture records are among the most sought-after of Victor's commercial issues from this period.  Their limited production & period designs make them a prized addition to collections."
