I accept no returns of sealed items that were opened after originally being received “as is” under any circumstance.  The higher value of sealed old stock LPs is usually due to collectors wanting to keep, and not open original issues.  Opening the seal changes the intrinsic nature and value of the object. Open copies of the same LP’s are not worth as much to serious collectors because they then become far more common, no matter however good the condition of the disc or sleeve is in.

This is the 3rd album, Dancing Undercover by Ratt. This was another string of platinum selling albums from the band but by this time things were clearly changing. Ratt blew the doors wide open right out of the gate with their RIAA certified triple platinum selling debut album, Out Of The Cellar. With the strength of their major breakthrough hit single “Round and Round” and it’s accompanying promotional music video, MTV saw the band go from small clubs to large arenas within a few months of its release. The following year brought Invasion Of Your Privacy, another platinum seller, but this time, only double platinum. A pattern had begun to form here around the release of their albums. With each release, every Ratt album will sell less and less records each year. Now at their 3rd effort, this album only maintained platinum status sales and was awarded an RIAA certification of said sales. But the sales weren’t the only problem for the band. Stephen Pearcy identifies the Dancing Undercover tour as the breaking point of the band. Before this album and tour, the members were chummy, getting along and enjoyed being around each other. Now, they couldn’t wait to get out of each other’s sight. Stephen and Bobby began feuding while Robbin felt unfavored for his playing, disconnected and no longer a team with Warren. The band’s popularity began waning with the emergence of new bands stealing the spot light, attention and fan base. With the release of Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, the debut releases of Poison and Cinderella and the emergence of Guns N’ Roses, Ratt’s fan base dramatically and drastically shrank. After this, things only got harder and for the band.

This is THE ORIGINAL 1986 US pressing of Dancing Undercover by Ratt. This is a very rare collector’s quality copy that is very hard to find. There used to be a plethora of these sealed copies 4 years ago on eBay when I first started buying and collecting only. These sealed copies are getting scarcer and scarcer and you won’t be able to find these very often because people will swipe these up fast! Most times at best, you’d only find a promo copy that has a gold promo stamp only with no shrink but the sticker is on the cardboard. Or you’d find an open copy with the shrink and sticker still on it or none of those altogether. Promo drill-hole bottom right, crease on Bobby’s head noticeable in light. Wrinkles towards bottom right and another barely left of the word “Warning” (bottom right corner, backside) and an additional 3 wrinkles: 2 below the lady’s nose and another above the Atlantic logo. And a few more: 2 on backside close to hole punch and 2 more up top. Light “lip damage” at opening edge. In overall solid condition for a sealed 36 year old record.
