If you haven't heard about Dexter, he's an amazing jazz musician. He was known as a premier tenor player and collaborator with Charlie Parker and Charlie Mingus. He starred as an actor artist in Paris (Bud Powell) in the movie Round Midnight and nominated for an Academy Award as lead actor in 1986. He passed away in 1990.
Swingin Affair was the last stateside album he made in the 60s before making the leap to living in Paris and Europe the next 12 years.
