Phaedra (1974) is an album by the German electronic music group Tangerine Dream.
This is the first Tangerine Dream album to feature their now classic sequencer-driven sound, which kicked off the whole Berlin School genre. This album marked the beginning of the group's international success and was their first album released on the British Virgin records label. It achieved a six-figure sale in the UK, reaching No.15 in the charts in a 15-week run, with virtually no air play, only by strong word-of-mouth. It also earned the group a gold disc in Australia, and yet amazingly in their native Germany it sold barely 6,000 units. Alpha Centauri outsold it by nearly four-to-one.[3]
The title track was originally based on an improvisation that happened to be recorded in the studio, and unintentionally exhibits one of the limitations of the analog equipment used at the time. As the equipment warmed up, some of the oscillators began to detune (they were highly temperature-sensitive), which was responsible for some of the changes in the music towards the end of the piece.
The title track and "Movements of a Visionary" rely on Christopher Franke's use of the Moog analog sequencer as a substitute for bass guitar. "Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares" features Edgar Froese soloing on a Mellotron which is treated to slowly sweeping filter effects. "Sequent C'" is a short but memorable piece by Peter Baumann on flute, with tape echo.
Phaedra is listed in 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

Rubycon is an album released in 1975 by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream. It is widely regarded as one of their best albums. Rubycon further develops the Berlin School sequencer-based sound they ushered in with the title track from Phaedra.
- Although not quite matching the sales figures for Phaedra, Rubycon did give the group their highest ever UK chart placing. This was widely stated to be No.12, in a 14-week run. All editions of the now defunct Guinness Book of British Hit Albums gave this peak position, and for many years Tangerine Dream even headed the list of most charting albums (16 in all), without ever reaching the Top 10, before being overtaken by Irish duo Foster and Allen. However, a recent website (www.chartstats.com) clearly states that Rubycon did in fact peak at No.10

Stratosfear is an electronic music album released in 1976 by the German group Tangerine Dream. It marks the beginning of the band's evolution away from their uncompromising early 1970s synthesizer experiments toward a recognizably more melodic sound, a trend they would pick up again in 1979's Force Majeure. The title track "Stratosfear" has been played live many times and has been released in a re-mixed form on a number of other albums.
Stratosfear combines Tangerine Dream's acoustic and electronic influences tighter than before. For instance, at the end of the last track, "Invisible Limits", the deep piano/flute tune reveals the album's romantic flavour even after the earlier predominantly synthetic compositions (tracks #1 to last part of track #4).
The LP reached No.39 in the UK, in a 4-week chart run, and eventually reached silver status for selling an excess of 60,000 copies.

Logos Live is an album of electronic music released by Tangerine Dream in 1982. It is a live album from the concert at the Dominion Theatre in London, England. Much like Tangram with short movements connected by atmospheric segues, Logos captured a period of Tangerine Dream's evolution from experimental to melodic, documented also by their soundtrack to the motion picture Risky Business a year later.
- From the two hour concert, 50 minutes of music original to the concert was included on the album. Music from The Keep, Exit, Poland and White Eagle was not included. The entire concert is included on the Tangerine Tree release Tangerine Leaves Volume 1: London 1982. The same concert was played at Fairfield Halls in Croydon on October 31, 1982 and released in a superior quality as Tangerine Tree Volume 12: Croydon 1982.
