The Clash - London Calling
original UK double vinyl LP
Original UK vinyl edition, CBS CLASH 3, with plain inner sleeves and two double-sided lyric inserts (later pressings included printed inner sleeves instead of the inserts). Jacket has CBS CLASH 3 on the spine and back of sleeve, the label code LC 0149 on the labels and the back of the sleeve, and the price codes CB 232 and 61 (in a black circle) on the upper right corner on the back of the sleeve.
The record has been ultrasonic cleaned (HumminGuru), only visually graded.
All four sides of the vinyl look to be pristine, with no scuffs or hairlines that I can see, and I have to wonder if it has even been previously played (at the very least, the previous owner was very meticulous); I would easily grade it as Near Mint, if not better. (ADDENDUM: while checking the printing on the runouts as requested by a user, I did notice that on Side 1 there are three tiny scratches bunched together on the lead-in, two of which continue into Track 1 ("London Calling") for about 1/16th of the track and the third going into the song about 1/3 of the way. I did test play the track on my Fluance RT84, and did not hear any effect of these scratches on the track, sounds wonderful, and after another check I can say that the rest of the vinyl does look amazingly pristine.)
The sleeve is in VG+ condition, with light bumping/rubbing to corners (also, please see photos which show that spine corners are "hollow" as in production the cardboard did not connect together - I'm not sure if this was generally the case with this pressing or if it's specific to this copy). There are some indents and short creases to spine. There is a short crease to the bottom right corner of the front and a larger (but still light) crease to the upper right corner on the back, a small indent and small abrasion to the upper right corner (see photos), a small bump along the opening edge on the back, and a small indent along the bottom edge near the right corner on the back. The is a light scratch across the bottom portion of the Joe photo on the back. I'm being very detailed here about faults, however overall this sleeve looks pretty great, crisp and clean and obviously taken care of pretty well for the past 25 years.
The lyric inserts are in Near Mint condition, with some light edgewear and some foxing (NOTE that previous owner was in Japan, and as is often the case with items from there, due to humidity a slight musty smell and/or foxing can happen.)
This will be shipped in a Bags Unlimited Mighty Music Mailer, a cardboard LP mailer with elongated sides that decrease the likelihood of bumping to corners and edges during shipping. The record in inner sleeve will be removed from the outer sleeve prior to packaging to avoid seam splits during transit.
