Hello there! Many thanks for perousing my items! When you've looked here, you might like to check out some of my other items, I have some other very rare Beatles etc. items currently listed with many more to come, heck, I'd even suggest you add me to your favourite sellers to keep on top of all the goodies that I'm going to list over the coming months!
I have collected records since I was very young, however Iincreasingly I have realised that I have far too many, and soI have been slowly trying to rationalise my extensive collection over the years, I have sold many major rarities over the years, from major BEATLES and 60s rarities, through PUNK and PROG ROCK, CLASSICAL and BLUES. Basically I've had alot of very rare records and in dribs and drabs have sold them off. I've never had negative feedback, and had many repeat customers. I will only post completely insured and tracked.
This week I'm selling many Beatles/Kinks/Yardbirds Etc. 7" rarities.
Here we have ta DEMO copy of the very first single released on TRANSATLANTIC'S singles label BIG T, this is a white label PROMO copy of THE PURPLE GANG'S, 1967 counter-culture anthem Granny Takes A Trip b/w Boot Leg Whisky, produced by my favourite producer of the 1960s Joe Boyd! What I love about the music of the UK in the 1960s is that you could give anything a go, and so why not have a subversive counter-culture song by a jug band?! I love this track, which is scarce in it's own right, but almost never turns up in the white label DEMO form! The B-side is also a great track, and a rare slice of a direction from the 1960s that hasn't yet been re-mined and recycled by more modern popular musicians. Though the band claimed it was not about dropping acid, the title "Granny Takes A Trip" can't have passed all of the members' attentions bye, being that one of them already dressed as a warlock, and unlike most Carnaby Street based counter-culture "heads" these guys all came from in and around the suburbs of Manchester! I know one member of them who later became part of the punk band "The Distractions" (who are gigging again- I just thought I'd throw in a little advert for them!). This record has become signifficantly more sought after since it was included on a few 60s CD box-sets etc. If you have a 60s collection that doesn't involve this single, then you really should be thinking about getting it!
RECORD CONDITION: A-side VG+, B-side VG a decently looked after record. Has a few surface marks and scuffs on the B-side, though nothing feelable, or anything to signifficantly affect play. Plays very strongly!
RECORD LABELS: VG+, Very nice original white PROMO labels, that would show any wear and tear fairly brutally! Luckily these labels have survived relatively unscathed! Just a very light handling/ ring- rub, and a few very light spindle traces near the central spindle hole when angled into direct light.
