Description

Artist:  Thelonious Monk Quartet with Johnny Griffin

                                     

Title:   “Thelonious In Action:  Recorded at the Five Spot Café, New York City”

 

Label:   RIVERSIDE.  Monaural pressing on medium thick vinyl.  Label is “large” blue with silver text, with deep groove.  Catalog number is RLP 12-262. 

 

Year:  1958 session, early 60s pressing.

 

Personnel:   Thelonious Monk – piano;  Johnny Griffin – tenor sax;  Ahmed Abdul-Malik – bass;  Roy Haynes – drums. 

 

Note:  This album comes from an extremely well cared-for jazz collection where the original owner cherished his albums, played them once or twice at most, and stored them under optimal conditions.  There will be some nice opportunities for the collector who insists on mint condition.

 

Condition: 

 

DISC:  Vinyl is gorgeous NEAR MINT, has been played a very small number of times, most likely once or twice, and handled with care.  Plays flawlessly with superb fidelity.  Labels are clean and pristine.     

 

JACKET:   NEAR MINT.  Nice bright artwork, clean white reverse, seams and corners are excellent.  No stickers, writing, or cutout indications.  Address on reverse is “235 West 46th Street, New York 36, N. Y.”  This is a gorgeous item.
