Description

These records come from my personal collection. As a collector they have all been well cared for over the years since I bought them.

Time to downsize to make way for other music, I will be listing a number of my treasured compact discs and records ranging from psych/prog to soul to folk to blues and everything in between, over the coming months.

If you like this record there is a good chance others I am selling may tickle your fancy, so please feel free to have a look. I hope they find their way into the hands of people who will love them as much as I have over the years.

Thanks for looking & good luck should you decide to bid.

I guarantee the condition of the records and their covers/inserts etc are accurately described and that any photos used are of the actual record/cover/insert for sale.

If you want any further information on any records please contact me and i will answer your query as quickly as possible

                                                                              THE ATLANTICS - BOMBORA

The album tracks through both sides great. The vinyl is in very good condition with  light scratches and scuffing that create minimal background noise apart from a section leading in from "Greensleeves" to "MoonMan" with an audiable tick for about five secondsThe laminated cover is in very good condition with ringwear and slight age discolouration. A small name written on the top right  back corner (Supersize photos).

One of the greatest instrumental surf groups did not even hail from America. The Atlantics, despite their name, were an Australian combo who not only emulated the sound of California surf music, but ranked among its very best practitioners. Featuring a reverb-heavy, extremely "wet" sound, the Atlantics attacked original material, standards, and movie themes with a nervy blend of precision and over-the-top intensity. As in Dick Dale's music, touches of Middle Eastern influences can be detected in the rhythms of melodies (some members of the group claimed Greek and Egyptian heritage). Their second single, "Bombora," went to the top of the Australian charts in 1963, and the follow-up, "The Crusher," was also a big hit.

When released in 1963 they were complete unknowns at 19 years of age. I wish i could have played guitar like this at nineteen.Guitarists are the legendary James Skiathitis and Theo Penglis. Electric bass is the legendary Bosco Bosonac and on drums is the as well legendary Peter Hood.

Cover Photo is of Barry Birdsall taking off on solid Cronulla Point

Super rare Australian LP. In great condition overall for a coming on a nearly fifty year old LP
