Description

An original very 1st mono press of AHDN on the UK Parlophone label from 1964.  Matrix 3N/3N - earliest iteration. You will note that the "chubby font" employed is the earliest iteration used, and there's 'Parlophone' mentioned in the perimeter label text and "recording 1st pub". The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono Ernest J Day cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, and a couple of very superficial trails Absolutely nothing significant that will enter the audio spectrum. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very very quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Wow, what a player! This copy has a lovely airy quality to the audio. It's bold and assured with no sign of background at all. The audio quality is absolutely top-quality.. in fact, it's one of the best renditions of AHDN I've witnessed. All tracks be they the more upbeat numbers, or the low-key acoustic ones, play clean as a whistle. YOU will not find a better playing copy it's nigh on faultless. At worst expect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. The only deviation is two low-level ticks on 'When I Get Home' - no big deal at all. Overall a top-level specimen from the 1st couple of weeks of release. Sweet!
Cover (Ex-) Many of these early Beatles covers will be looking a bit dog-eared by this point in time. But this example has clearly been looked after carefully by its owner. A lovely clean and shiny front with barely a single crease! The rear looks superb and has escaped much of the ageing - just some low-level in places over toward the opening. Edge wear is very slight indeed - which i unusual. All flipbacks are intact and secure. The spine looks great - 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine original specimen, and the harder to find E J Day copy at that.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged and one small side split has been taped up.
