Description

An original 1st issue of AR on the UK Apple label from autumn 1969. Matrix 2/1 - 1st cut. let's just qualify this...Please note that earliest 1st pressings do NOT mention 'her majesty' - and would all have been pressed prior to 1st release, or shortly after. At 1st release they decided to add a credit to 'Her Majesty' - as you find on this example. So, this copy will be one of the first copies with the new credit and would have been on sale - probably late October 1969. This copy holds all the positive aspects of the early copies. Look at the label shots - they have a satisfying bulge at the outer edge...these copies were pressed heavy. It's weighing in at 155gs. Note also the "33" speeds on the label are in small font - after Xmas'69 Apple would move to increase the size of the "33" speeds [small font=early]. The vinyl comes housed in an original slim spine cover with a mis-aligned Apple logo on the rear. We also have a generic white inner from the time to ship in.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very superficial light [low-level] marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. I have never heard AR sound better than on this copy - it is a stunner! It is totally clean signalled. Intros and inbetweens are super quiet and the audio comes across perfect clarity. Folk insist on the early copies because they were pressed heavy - and the audio contained within is superb. A clean player into those lower-key tracks like 'Here Comes the Sun' & 'Because'. Hear HCTS start up perfectly clean - I can tell you it sounds super sweet. Even the super fussy tracks YNGMYM and Sun King played really clean. I can't make out anything more than super low-level 'presence' in a couple of the super quietest moments. You can even hear the crickets sing with crystal clarity [Sun King]! MOST copies NEVER sound anywhere near this good. Truly a show-stopping copy. Perhaps you want to treat yourself? - or maybe treat someone else. NO ONE could be disappointed by a copy this well preserved. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Wowzer - one of the best mis-aligned covers I've seen. Lovely shiny flat surfaces - without a single crease front and back [super unusual]. Colours are still lush and vibrant with one miniscule patch of laminate hazing/frosting . Edge wear is pretty much non-existent and the openings are still sharp. Four pointy corners. The spine is 100% perfect. Overall the cover retains really good rigidity. Will you find better?
Inner (Vg+) A bit aged. But no splits.
