Description

A 1st pressing of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 1-AHP/6MLR. Please note this copy does not exhibit the 'Her Majesty' text on the label which singles it out as an original 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover with Mis-aligned Apple Logo. It is believed that many of the 1st lp's went out like this before the cover design was re-sized and re-aligned.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we could make a few light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that these early copies sound like nothing else - rich acoustics with great resolution. Basically awesome! The only interference we could detect was a touch of light static in a couple of places [literally]. This copy plays clean and it doesn't take a genius to figure out why they are sought after.
Cover (Ex+) In great shape and has clearly been carefully looked after down the years. Beautifully shiny with bold vivid colours and only a couple of creases evident. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains much of its original rigidity. A very fine example of the mis-aligned Apple cover.
