Description
An original 1st pressing of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label from 1969. Matrix -1/-2.Stampers 7-RTD/9-MRL. Please note there is no 'Her Majesty' credit on the track 'The End'. This credit appears on subsequent pressings of this album. The record comes in an original cover manufactured by Garrod & Lofthouse. Again, please note the cover is the Mis-aligned Apple logo version. This print error was corrected on all subsequent print runs.
Cover (Ex) Has been carefully looked after and remains in remarkably good condition. Front and back are still lovely and shiny. There are a couple of light creases evident, but other than that it's in really fantastic condition.There's hardly any edge wear and the opening is still nice and sharp.The spine is 100% intact. Overall rigidity is excellent and this remains a great example of a very hard to find original cover.
Vinyl (Ex) Again, this has clearly only seen light use. The surfaces are still nice and shiny and there's only some very light spindle wear. Under close inspection I can see nothing more than a few ultra-light marks. Absolutely nothing remotely feelable - we are talking very very light. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with brilliant clarity and very very little audible interference. I really can't underplay how good the audio quality is on these early pressings. Beautifully rich and well resolved - they really are worth hunting down. Now, there are a couple of very very light static crackles audible occasionally, but these really are few and far between and I'm being picky even mentioning them. Playback is a solid Ex and above this level for the most part. A real humdinger...
