Description
An original 1st pressing of Abbey Road on the Apple label from 1969. Matrix -1/-2. The record label makes no mention of 'Her Majesty' and this identifies it, along with the matrix numbers, as an original first pressing from 1969. The record is also a very decent solid pressing unlike later reissues. The Lp comes housed in its original Garrod & Lofthouse cover and original black inner sleeve. So, this is 100% complete and 100% original - and in fantastic condition too.
Vinyl (Ex) Is still nice and shiny and has clearly seen only minimal use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity and with minimal interference. There are a couple of light static crackles in a couple of the quieter passages e.g. intro to 'Here Comes The Sun'....but they really are only vaguely audible in a couple of spots and are very minimal indeed. It's worth noting that these first issues from 1969 are really solid and the sound quality is absolutely top draw. Beautiful full range sound with bags of detail. A lot of Abbey Road is very low-key stuff and so many copies easily show noticeable deterioration - but this copy really is remarkably well preserved.
Cover (Ex+) Has survived the years in amazing condition. There's very little wear visible at all - barely even a crease! No dinks to the corners, no hidden rips. It feels really nice and rigid - and the text on the spine is entirely intact. It feels very much like a brand new cover.
Inner (VG+) Light creasing, but importantly no splits.
It would be difficult finding a better copy than this - and it's from 1969 a real rarity....
