Description

1st pressing of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label from 1969 - whilst still in the charts. Heavy set vinyl. Matrix -2/-1. Stampers 2-MMG/6-OAD. Dark Apple labels with 33rpm in alignment with the text below, and small (p) copyright symbol by the year. Please note this copy comes housed in the very first edition sleeve with the Apple Logo misaligned on the rear. We are also including an 'aligned cover' in this listing as a 'spare cover' and to illustrate the difference. 100% original & 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) Looks to have only seen light use and remains very well preserved. Under close inspection I can see a couple of light marks on either side - but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with little interference. The only thing of note was a few crackles in the intro to 'Mean Mr Mustard' and in the quieter passage in 'The End'. This is particularly important on Abbey Road as a lot of the tracks are low-key and background interference will stand out like a sore thumb! Not here though, the audio on offer here is that lush full frequency presentation you only find on early copies. This LP really does play back to a very high standard.
Cover (Vg) It's still shiny front and back with vivid colours, but does exhibit a few creases and a couple of minuscule tears at the opening. Please note that there's two seam splits [one inch] top and bottom - not visible in photos. Overall the cover still retains good rigidity and the text on the spine is 100% intact. We are also including an 'aligned cover' in this listing which rates marginally better at (Vg+) [final 4 pics]. Both are original to the first pressings from 1969. Interestingly you can see an extra half an inch of the image on the rear on the 'aligned copy' - leaves and a house are visible.
Inner (Ex) No splits hardly any ageing.
