Description

An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 2-GR/2-M. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover. Also included is the original black Apple inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In great condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of marks either side. One which is long, but very superficial non-sounding & one much smaller one which just sounds and is detailed below. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that a 1st press of Abbey Road well preserved sounds 'out of this world'. Top-level resolution and transparency - a level unobtainable on any other pressing. Even the quieter tracks on side 2 play CLEAN! Interference is only audible at all, momentarily, at the start of 'Come Together'. The mark mentioned above causes a few crackles in the opening moments and then dissipates very quickly. That really is the only interference we could detect and if you can live with that slight aberration you will be treated to a very very fine rendition for the remaining 46 minutes!
Cover (Ex-) Has been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front with a couple of creases and laminate lift down in the bottom-right corner. The rear fare even better with barely a crease. Edge wear is light and the text on the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies perfectly flat. Nice!
Inner (Ex) No side splits. One tiny tear to the die-cut central hole.
