Description
An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 1-GOR/4-RRD. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover. Also included is the original Apple generic white 'made in england' inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In great condition and is certainly one of the nicest copies I've seen. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that a 1st press of Abbey Road preserved to this standard sounds 'out of this world'. Top-level resolution and transparency - a level unobtainable on any other pressing. Even the quieter tracks on side 2 play CLEAN! Interference is practically non-existent. We couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of places. A truly impressive rendition....
Cover (Ex) Has been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front and back showing only a couple of very light creases. Please note that on the rear there's some left over sticker residue in the extreme top-right corner. Edge wear is very light and the text on the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies perfectly flat. Nice!
Inner (Ex) Barely any ageing. No splits.
