Description
An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 6-OA/6-PP. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover. Also included is the original generic white 'patents applied for' inner sleeve. Some of the very 1st copies came in a black inner sleeve - others, like this one were generic white. But, just in case you're a black inner addict - we have thrown in a replica to keep you happy! So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In great condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that a 1st press of Abbey Road well preserved sounds 'out of this world'. Top-level resolution and transparency - a level unobtainable on any other pressing. Even the quieter tracks on side 2 of this LP play CLEAN! Interference is, thankfully, very minor in nature and only audible in one or two isolated spots. All we could detect was the odd crackle creeping into the audio toward the end of 'I Want You' and a couple of light ticks during the opening seconds of ' You Never Give Me Your Money'. If you can live with that the remainder of the record plays back at a superb level. A great rendition of one of the Beatles best records.
Cover (Ex-) Has clearly been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front with a couple of creases. The rear is in great condition too with a couple more creases evident. Edge wear is mostly light except for a one inch patch of surface wear on the spine. All text on the spine is still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains an impressive example.
Inner (Ex) No side splits and barely any ageing.
