This exceptional 1st UK MONO FIRST PRESSING from August 1965 release on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1255

Both Labels have the:

"Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions see price lists"

And

"The Parlophone Co ltd " text

A 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.

Earliest FIRST PRESS matrix numbers: XEX 549-2 & XEX 550-2

Stamper codes: 2 M & 1 0 ...... POSSIBLY ONE OF THE EARLIEST EVER ????

Vinyl weight: 142g

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover.

Complete with original rice-paper Poly lined 'Use EMITEX...' worded inner-sleeve.



CONDITION of this TRUELY STUNNING EXAMPLE

Vinyl : MINT

Super-clean playing surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss factory shine.

the disc is unmarked in strong daylight.

Closer inspection beneath halogen light reveals ONLY the lightest sleeve removal mark no further noticeable blemishes or wear. LOOKS UNPLAYED !!!!!!!

AUDIO: Near MINT

This disc sound is clean & unworn throughout. There is no trace of the crackle or groovewear which spoil so many of these pressings.

Aside from a little regular low-level vinyl background between tracks, there is little to fault on this keeper copy. 

COVER : Near MINT

Seldom seen in this condition, this impressive example retains an unworn, high-gloss front panel laminate where the only signs of wear are some small spine wrinkles. There are certainly no 'thumbnails' or any other creasing or wear whatsoever. There is minor shelfwear bruising to the upper left and lower right corners but both opening edges are perfectly clean, so much so that it is clear to see precisely where the laminate ends.

The rear panel is clean and white just a small age related foxing and completely unblemished, as are all of the flipbacks.

Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is fully worded.

Variant B : Other of the original labels used a thick font and the same * credit indicator for “I Need You” was placed to the right of the song title with a space between: I Need You *. In addition, the laqueur numbers (XEX.549 & XEX.550) shifted relative to date on the both sides.

Variation C. Side 1 is practically the same as in variation 1A but the titles of “Girl” on track 5 and 6 are now aligned directly above each other. Side 2 has a few more differences in the tracklist layout. Most noticeably, the second line now begins with BIEM instead of NCB; and “Yesterday” now no longer begins on its own line. The layout in general is neater with the space being used a little more efficiently.
