Description

An original 1st mono press of HELP! on the UK Parlophone label from 1965.  Matrix 2/2 - 1st cut. Tax Code "MT". 1st pressing is denoted by the abbreviated "Lark Mus. " publishing credit for 'Act Naturally' and the space between the asterisk and the end of "I Need You". The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono G&L cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. It's bold and assured with almost no sign of background at all. It's certainly up there with the best copies I've witnessed. 'Help!' was widely regarded as the Beatles foray into the country style/genre. Consequently, many tracks are low-key acoustic. If you don't get yourself a really clean copy you'll be left disappointed. Even the TEST track 'Yesterday' plays clean with just a couple of errant crackles in a couple of spots - much better than you tend to find....And from 1965 that's not always an easy find. Sweet!
Cover (Ex) It sure is nice to see that iconic front image looking so clean and white. There's a touch of lightest ageing at the opening edge - very minor though. On the front I can make out one minor thumbnail crease and a surface level scratch [1c.m.] over Lennon's left arm [minor]. The rear looks superb and has escaped most of the ageing that so often afflicts these early 60's covers - just a couple of blemishes by Paul's chin. Edge wear is really light and the flipbacks are intact and secure. The spine looks superb with the text all visible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine original specimen.
Inner (Ex-) Very little ageing.A one inch bottom edge split.
