Description

An original 2nd issue of HELP! on the UK Parlophone label from 1966. Matrix 2/2 - [same as 1st cut]. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono G&L cover with flipbacks. Also inluded is an original Emitex inner from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use - the surfaces look like mirrors! Under close inspection there are a couple of very superficial marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one minuscule deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Wow, what a player! It's bold and assured with no sign of background at all. The audio quality is absolutely top-quality.. in fact, it's one of the best renditions of HELP I've ever witnessed. Help was widely regarded as the Beatles foray into the county style/genre. Consequently, many tracks are low-key acoustic. If you don't get yourself a really clean copy you'll be left disappointed. Even the super-doopa TEST track 'Yesterday' plays really very clean indeed [this is very difficult to find]. If that one plays clean you're really onto something.... All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. The only vaguest deviation was two minuscule ticks in the opening seconds of 'Seen A Face'..Basically this is one ridiculously well preserved copy. Sweeeeet!
Cover (Ex) It sure is nice to see that iconic front image looking so clean and white. I think it's fair to say that the front cover is actually perfectly white - which is not something you can often say. Barring a crease down in the bottom right corner it looks outrageously good. The rear looks superb too and has escaped most of the ageing that so often afflicts these early 60's covers. All I can make out is blemish in the top right by the catalogue number! Edge wear is very light and all flipbacks are intact and secure. All the text on the spine seems to be legible - there are, however, a couple of stress creases. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine original specimen.
Inner (Vg+) No splits. A bit grubby in one or two spots. Otherwise very nice.
