Description

An original 1st mono press of Pepper on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original mono gatefold cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original white 'patent applied for' inner sleeve [not all the original copies had the flame inner sleeve]. Also included are the cut-outs. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. And some breathtaking audio so read on...>>
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely sinister or likely to feature in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level with one slight deviation. I'd love to say that every few copies of Pepper plays like this, but I can assure you that one that plays this well is something of a rarity. Within the top five copies I've ever witnessed and the clarity in the audio is nothing short of astonishing. Due to it's inherent popularity this LP has nearly always seen significant use. True-low mileage carefully cared for copies are few and far between. Intros and inbetweens, on this example, are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. On true low-mileage copies you can hear deep into the mix with percussion and the looping base notes perfectly resolved. By and large a nigh on perfect rendition. But do expect a few isolated crackles in a couple of isolated spots [e.g. She's Leaving Home - which is practically impossible to find playing perfectly clean]. And we did pick-out a tick in 'WYWOY'. As I always say to folk...it's all well and good looking like a perfect copy..but, particularly on Pepper, only with a full testing and critical evaluation can you actually be sure you have one of these original top-level copies.
Cover (Ex) A truly lovely looking example of Pepper. So, often the front covers have been exposed to the light and the colours diluted. This example still exhibits beautiful vivid and bold colours. There's only super-light handling evident with one crease down in the bottom left corner. The rear is equally good with just a couple of slight thumbnail creases at the opening. The interior is stunning - nigh on perfect. Edge wear is very light and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is looking way better than most examples that surface. All text fully visible - just one minuscule it of wear above the word 'Hearts'. Overall the cover sits very nice and flat and retains excellent rigidity.
Cut-Outs (Ex+) They feel pretty much 'as new'. No issues at all.
Inner (Ex) No markings or splits. Hardly any ageing either.
