The BEATLES WHITE ALBUM Top Opener No. 0540536 Stereo PCS 7067/8
This is an unusual copy of the White Album with a VERY RARE LABEL CROSSOVER VARIATION, in EXCELLENT condition overall. Complete with all components.
The TOP OPENING gatefold cover is a very clean, white example. A nice clear number (0540536) on the front. ‘Stereo’ on the rear. Clear and unmarked on the inside. There is just slight ringwear, mild handling wear and a few minor scuffs gained over the years. A true, excellent example with a good, intact spine.
Side 1 YEX 709-1 (5 OOG) & Side 2 YEX 710-1 (4 OLG) have the second design labels (from 1969) with the dark green APPLE but with a different font and a slightly different layout and larger 33 1/3. There is no ‘Sold in the UK….’ statement. Very few first pressing, top opening covers got this label design but a few slipped through in high number stereo LPs. The labels are excellent, clean with no marks or writing, there is minor spindle markings only.
The VINYL is excellent with a very few surface scratches only and playback confirms the excellent grading. Hardly any background noise, clicks, ticks etc. A great audio experience on a fine piece of vinyl!
Side 3 YEX 711-1 (5 PA) & Side 4 YEX 712-1 (6 PM) have the familiar first label with ‘sold in the UK..’ statement. Excellent labels and excellent, clean vinyl with just a few clicks here and there. There is one blemish with this piece of vinyl, the outer groove run in to track 1 ‘Birthday” on side 3 is slightly chipped about half way into the first groove. This doesn’t affect playing at all, as long as the stylus is carefully placed on the record to miss the chip. It does not affect side 4 at all.
The vinyl is relatively unmarked on both sides and audio rates as excellent.
Both records have their original BLACK DIE CUT INNERS which just have minor tears and creases and rate as very good+ examples. The poster/lyric sheet and portrait photos are clean and excellent examples.
I also checked the weight of both records.
Sides 1 & 2 (with rarer label) 143 grams
Sides 3 & 4 (standard label) 142 grams
