1. The Beatles (The White Album) - Authentic UK First Pressing - No. 0289835 - With Poster**
**Offered here is a genuine UK first pressing mono/stereo (check label - see below) copy of The Beatles' legendary self-titled double album, commonly known as "The White Album".**
* **Key Authenticity & Pressing Details:**
**Verified UK First Pressing:** Confirmed by the matrix numbers: Side 1: **XEX 709-1 GH** / Side 2: **XEX 710-1 GGP**.
* **Pressed at EMI Hayes:** The "XEX" prefix denotes pressing at EMI's flagship Hayes plant.
* **First Generation Masters:** The "-1" suffix indicates mastering directly from the first-generation master tapes.
* **Original Serial Number:** stamped number **0289835** on the cover, placing it firmly within the initial UK first pressing run (late 1968 / early 1969).
* **Label:** Please check the label center for text: **"Sold in U.K. ..."** it's the *original mono mix*.
**Condition Breakdown:**
* **Cover (VG / VG+):** The original Garrod & Lofthouse International printed top-loader gatefold. It remains very presentable for its age. Shows typical signs of handling and shelf wear (light edge/corner wear, possibly minor spine stress or rubbing), but no major splits, heavy stains, or significant damage. Overall, a solid VG, approaching VG+ example.
Vinyl 1: side 1 & side 2 VG (Very Good)
***Description:** LP1 exhibits visible scuffs and scratches consistent with careful prior ownership.
* **Play:** Plays through without skipping. Music is clear and generally solid throughout.
* **Noise:** Moderate surface noise is present (audible clicks, pops, and background static). This noise is more prominent during quieter passages and between tracks.
* **Overall Grade:** **VG (Very Good)**. This accurately reflects the visible wear and the audible surface noise typical of the grade, while confirming the essential playability without major defects. Enjoyable playback, but not pristine.
**Vinyl 2: sides 3 and 4) (G-)**
* **Description:** LP2 shows Visible scuffs and scratches
** Defect:** During playtesting of Side 4, a scratch on the track "Revolution 9" causes the stylus to skip and become stuck in an infinite loop, preventing completion of the track.
+++++ all the other tracks on the second vinyl (sides 3 and 4) play through.+++++
* **Overall Grade:**(G-) The significant playback defect (infinite loop/skip) renders the track unplayable as intended.
**Inner Sleeves (VG):** The original plain black paper inner sleeves are present and in VG condition (no significant tears or heavy staining).
**Poster (VG):** The original large double-sided poster, also printed by Garrod & Lofthouse International, is included. It's complete, without major tears, but shows expected handling creases and light edge wear commensurate with VG condition.
**Important Note Regarding Photos:**
**Four Glossy Photos Included:** The set of four individual Beatle portraits is present.
****However,*** these photos are marked **"Printed in U.S.A."** on the reverse. This means they are ***not*** the original UK photos that came with this specific UK first pressing. They are either later US prints or replacements. They are included as a bonus.
**Summary:** A highly collectible **authentic UK first pressing White Album** (No. 0289835) with its key identifiers present (correct matrix, serial number, Garrod & Lofthouse cover & poster). The cover and poster are presentable (VG/VG+), the vinyl plays with typical VG surface noise, and it includes the original black inners. The included photos are US prints, not the original UK ones. A great opportunity to own a piece of Beatles history in solid, playable condition.
