Description

An original 1968 white album on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Please note that all labels exhibit the 'Sold In the UK ..' statement -- which is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original embossed and numbered top-loading cover [No. 0572810]. There are NO original inner sleeve, poster or photos.
Vinyl (G/Vg) Ok, clearly this copy is not going to be suitable for someone looking for a clean or very decent playing copy. You need to be realistic with this copy, because at this price point.. it will clearly have a few issues. So, it depends if you're someone who can accommodate a few issues in order to bag an original '68 copy.  Do expect many marks either side - a couple of which are getting feelable - including a radial mark which does sound. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD level of playback but please note there are a few deviations. By and large quite a solid player, but even when it is on song it's not going to make the top grades. A lot of the album plays at a very respectable and enjoyable VERYGOOD level. But there are noticeable issues in certain areas. The most obvious issue is in 'MARTHA' - this track is practically a write-off.. I'm getting a lot of crackle/interference..I would actually recommend not even playing this track! But the LP improves significantly straight away after that track and that's really the only point which I would call "B-A-D"! Other than that expect a few ticks in the odd place and I can make out four brief non-repeating skips  - one each in ..'I'm So Tired' & 'Lonesome' & 'Sexy Sadie' & 'Revolution'. Then there's a 3 second blast of interference in 'Don't Pass Me By' - caused by that radial mark. So, in summary....An album which can still be enjoyed very much - for a large part of the four sides. Just weigh it up in the round - can you make the compromises as mentioned above?
Cover (G) Ok, this cover is what I would describe as minimum-level. It's OK and just about acceptable..but no more. The front is ok, but expect a few creases, a few nicks, and light ageing. The rear is ok too with a bit of staining along the top edge. The interior is fine - no major problems. There's a fair bit of edge wear. Expect a one inch wear-through on the right hand panel edge. The spine exhibits a lot of wear, but weirdly a lot of the text it still legible. So there you have it...acceptable..no more and no less.
