Just wanted to make that 100% clear - ha!
We have, here, an incomplete but genuine UK 1st Stereo Press. There's no cover so this copy might suit someone who has the cover, but damaged records. Or potentially looking to get a 1st at rock bottom price who can bide their time and snag the cover later. Either way - this copy will not suit someone who is fussy. It's a good player, but the buyer needs to be someone who can compromise a bit to bag a value copy like this.
What is included in the listing.... 2 X Vinyl LPs. Both consistent with 1st press and have the 'Sold In The UK' statement. The third label, in fact, omits the 'EMI recording' text - the earliest possible variation. Matrix 1/1/1/2. We have the four original thicker paper quality photos and the original 1st issue lyric sheet/poster. And just to make it 100% clear - NO COVER! [sorry couldn't resist that]. We're housing the LPs in poly-lined Decca mid-sixties stereo inners...Cool, but not original to the EMI/Apple release.
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) In pretty decent condition but has seen quite a bit of use. Expect a good bit of marking all sides....some might be feelable. If you are in any way put off by that - best move onto another copy I'd say. But if you can handle some marking to snag an early copy - remember, the 1st copies were pressed heavy and are more forgiving than you might think. The way I'd describe the audio is, in fact, quite straightforward... "Upbeat numbers" - really nice a pretty steady VERYGOOD+...very appealing indeed. The "low-key acoustic numbers" - mostly VERYGOOD... expect a bit of background in most sections on these due to the audio being at a lower level [comparatively]. That being said - I quite enjoyed all the low-key numbers and didn't find the background all that distracting. The background is certainly not 'in your face'. It was, perhaps, slightly elevated in the song 'number9' [only]. Expect a few isolated ticks in the odd spot, and perhaps an occasional pop. But by and large a very decent rendition that one can easily appreciate and enjoy. Like I said above....it's not going to suit someone fussy. You need to be able to compromise. So, have a good think about what level will suit you. Think before you pull the trigger! FULLY TESTED - WILL NOT SKIP.
Poster/Lyric Sheet (Vg) Acceptable no more no less. Some of the folds were starting to fray and split. I have taped up where necessary to stop further deterioration. A bit of staining in places, but overall - acceptable.
Photos (Vg+) As mentioned above. These are the high quality photos. A bit of discolouration at the borders - but overall pretty nice looking.
DECCA Inners (Vg+) Lightest ageing. No splits.
