Description

An original VERY 1st press of Beggars Banquet on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1K/1K. Stampers 1-B/1-BM. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo gatefold cover which mentions 'patents pending'. These covers are beleived to be the very 1st variant for BB way back in November 1968. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Rather impressive for a genuine 50 year old 1st press.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely stunning condition and has seen only the lightest use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks - nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Quite frankly one of the best renditions of Beggars Banquet I've heard. Very little to find fault with. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Even the acoustic tracks play super-clean it really is very impressive. Interference is borderline non-existent. We didn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. FINAL UPGRADE no sweat.
Cover (Ex) In very nice shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. That iconic cover is still WHITE and seems to have mostly avoided the usual ageing process. Front and back are nice and clean without creasing and the often found scratches. The interior is in great shape too - barely anything to find fault with. Edge wear is surprisingly light and the spine is fully intact. Do bear in mind that this is very unusual. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. A truly impressive example from all angles.
Inner (Ex-) lightest of ageing. No splits or markings.
