Originally released on The Beatles’ Apple label and later reissued on Ringo’s RINGO’Records label.

John Tavener / The Whale

Two completely different covers were used for this offering from John Tavener that feature his famous piece, The Whale.

The Apple cover is a beautiful gatefold design using illustrations from the (British) National Maritime Museum while the later issued pressing, from Ringo’ Records, uses a photograph curtesy of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund).

Both albums are in solid VG+ condition, both covers and records.

An interesting ‘flaw’ can be seen on side two of the Apple Records pressing. Evidently two (2) labels were pressed, one on top of the other. If you will notice in the provided photos this Apple label resembles a dried fruit looking apple. I believe it could be removed with not much effort reveling the bottom label but I’ve left it on all these years as kind of a unique looking oddity. I’ve owned hundreds of Apple records with that familiar green Apple label so this one has remained untouched as a “Dried fruit Apple Records Label”.
