Description
I inherited some very old records*. I've been learning about them as I put them up for sale. It's all very fascinating.
This listing is for a Universal Record, two sided, 78RPM. This was produced around 1934. It's catalog number is 101-102. This low number for the catalog let's me know that this record was one of the first one's ever released by this company making it very valuable.
Here is some information about them:
Started in September 1934 "Universal Music Group N.V. is a Dutch–American multinational music corporation. UMG's corporate headquarters are located in Hilversum, Netherlands and its operational headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California."
It also states that before it was called Universal it was Decca Records. I believe this record company is still in operation today, but has various labels under it.
Side A: Toward The Stream, a Polka and many people contributed to playing it (too many to list)
Side B: The Leader, A Waltz, again many people contributed to playing it.
This record** was produced in Detroit Michigan. It is in very good condition! It still shines, has only minor scratches, no nics, chips or gouges. My visual inspection from all that I've listed so far over the last couple of weeks, this one is in the best condition.
An interesting side note: I could only find one actual record using this record label with the URS circled at the top in my searches, making this a rare bird indeed. Check it out for yourself. You'd be surprised what shows up for Universal 78 Records or Universal Records 78. You have to use the 78RPM or you'll get all kinds of stuff you don't want, lol.
