Description

THE VELVET UNDERGROUND

The Velvet Underground (MGM CS 8108) 1969

Here’s an ultra-rare original UK copy of their brilliant third LP. The experts say that only 600 copies were pressed, half with a 1-G matrix and half with a 1-R matrix. This copy has the 1-G matrix. This also has the horizontally split picture of Lou Reed on the back (all other issues have it vertical), and – of course – the ‘closet mix’ carried out by engineer Val Valentin, which is unique to the UK pressing (including an entirely different take of ‘Some Kinda Love’). It is thought that this was a result of MGM mistakenly sending the wrong master to the UK, and the error was quickly corrected.

SLEEVE

The front-laminated flipback sleeve is in VG+ condition, with some creasing to the laminate (see picture). The spine is clear and fully legible, and there are no rips, splits or writing. The sleeve was ‘Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patent No. 943, 895’.

VINYL

The glossy disc is also in VG+ shape, with some hairlines and minor marks, and sounds great on my Pro-Ject deck. The matrix numbers are 2YMG 291 - 1G (side one) and 2YMG 292 - 1G (side two).

The above description is honest and accurate. Please note that this is GUARANTEED not to be a bootleg or counterfeit. It is in every respect ORIGINAL.
