The BEATLES
PLEASE PLEASE ME
5th PRESS UK LP
EJ DAY COVER & EMITEX INNER
158g!!
VG+/VG+
This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker, New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.
Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

Vinyl:
INCREDIBLE WEIGHT 158g...WOW-VERY HEAVY!!!
VG+/EX-
Nice, heavy vinyl, with just light marks to her.
*CERTAINLY NO SKIPS OR JUMPS*
After giving her a gentle vacuum clean, followed by an ultrasonic bath, I have just finished listening to all of her (LOUDLY) and found a SUPERB clean and clear audio reproduction throughout. I didn’t even note any significant background noise...Nothing memorable at all!...Even the run-ins and out were lovely and quiet.
I really noticed Pauls Bass line on the 1st track as I’d never heard it before..Great fun :)
She has a superb rich deep bass reproduction, with clear and high peaks too!!
SUPERB!
FLAT, HEAVY AND ORIGINAL!
GREAT SOUND TOO
PLAY HER L-O-U-D...I DID, AND WASN'T DISAPPOINTED
Hand-Clapping-fine :)
Labels:
VG+
There's some central slight hole wear as can be seen in the pictures...Negligible (most sellers wouldn’t even bother mentioning it). The labels stand out wonderfully clean, with no rips and NO WRITING.
There are quite a few light spindle marks, again: evident only when angled towards the light and looking for them-but nothing terrible and would not affect the joy of framing her.
Outer rim text starts with "The Parlophone Co.Ltd" "Recording First Published 1963" stated under the printed matrix number.
NO "Sold In UK..." statement...Showing it is the 5th pressing.
**VERY DISPLAYABLE**
Inner:
EX.
It is an ORIGINAL and VERY 1st printing run of the "USE EMITEX" tracing-paper lined inner .
In great condition.
Only carries light creasing and light discolouration.
NO WRITING
NO SPLITS
Certainly done her job in keeping the record in great condition!
Cover:
VG(+)
RARER 1st PRINTING EJ DAY COVER
( These were produced at roughly a ratio of 1:10, compared to the usual Garrod & Lofthouse covers)
There is only very light handling wear to this cover...
Just a few fingers of spidering emanating from the seams..With some lines of spidering to the laminate near the opening, but again, nothing bad at all....After taking close-up photo's I noticed the top right and bottom left corners have a very well done tape repair..So, instead of EX, I have knocked her down to VG(+).
Lovley white back card WITHOUT WRITING. (tiny ‘p’ in top right corner).
The EJ Day flipbacks remain strong and legible-clean too.
STRONG INTACT & LEGIBLE SPINE
RARE.
