Description
Very good mono pressing of the Kenny Dorham Quartet's 2 Horns/2 Rhythm, Riverside RLP 12-255. This is a very hard to find original pressing featuring lots of gorgeous dueling between Dorham and the underrated Ernie Henry, with rhythm support from Wilbur Ware and GT Hogan. Lovely Riverside blue and silver deep groove labels.
Vinyl: VG. Vinyl is clean and shiny without any skips, pops, or clicks. But there is a lot of background "static," even following two rounds of cleaning using the Klaudio ultrasonic system. I've concluded that the problem is in the vinyl itself and not because it's a "dirty disc"--especially now that I've listened to other copies owned by friends and collectors. I just want to be clear with the buyer that s/he is getting an extremely clean copy of a LP that was pressed in 1957 using less than optimal vinyl. See photos for details.
Cover: VG+. Cover is in great shape. Front is terrific with shiny lamination clear and clean. The back is very good except for some foxing and a stain in the center. There is also an old 99-cent price sticker that was never removed by an earlier owner. The top spine has some minor flaking but the rest of the spine is legible and solid. Otherwise the whole cover is structurally sound without any splits or problems. See photos for details.
LP will come in protective Mobile Fidelity archive-quality sleeve. Cover will come in thick vinyl protective sleeve.
