Description
Complete Box Set of “Der Ring Des Nibelungen” with Culshaw’s book in like “New,” but even better than “New Sealed” condition, since each record was played only once to check for ”pops” and pressing faults (breakup). This 1967 set was purchased in the mid-seventies and each record was listened to one time using a Shure V15 Type III (then state of the art) cartridge tracking at 1 gram on a Philips GA212 Turntable with anti-skate adjustment At that time two records were found to have pressing flaws and were exchanged by London Records. I have never gotten back to this set and it has been in my collection and never moved for all these passing years.
The advantage of this set over a sealed set is that there are no defective records, whereas a set with sealed individual operas may have defective records without the option to replace with new records. London Records had quite a few imperfect pressings so the odds of receiving a 19 record set without flaws are not good. All records are free of finger prints, smears, and scratches and all are shiny new in appearance. All brochures are clean and in new condition and opera box covers are clean. The “Ring Resounding” book has never been read and also is in new condition. The main slip cover box is in excellent condition and looks as it did when I purchased it at Tower Records.
This certainly may be one of the best LP sets of the London Records Nibelungen currently available in the marketplace.
